Sidemount – SDI/TDI Course
Sidemount is the perfect course for any diver wishing to use this increasingly popular equipment configuration, either as a ‘stand-alone’ course or with one of TDI’s other open-circuit specialties. It teaches students how to safely use side-mounted primary cylinders as an alternative to the traditional back-mounted method. This course takes students through the specific techniques, planning procedures and skills that set side-mounted cylinder diving apart from the traditional back-mounted method. During the course, the TDI Instructor takes students on a minimum of three dives and covers skills such as: Diving Equipment considerations, Gas management, Attaching cylinders, Trim and buoyancy, Deployment of surface marker, Different water entries.

TDI’s Sidemount Diver Specialty is a useful stand-alone course for the technical diver who wants to become more skilled and proficient with different gear configurations regardless of if he intends to use sidemount all the time. The course may also be taught in conjunction with any of TDI’s other open-circuit specialty courses, on the condition that all prerequisites and standards applicable to both courses are fully met. Discover the new way to scuba dive either as a Technical or Recreational Diver. Sidemount diving is the most versatile art of diving, it brings a totally new dimension of hovering, trimming, streamlined position and equipment configuration. Have you ever thought of becoming a Pro in this technique? You will learn all the right basics to become a Master in trimming technique.
The Tec Sidemount Diver course does not qualify you to make tec dives beyond your present certification level. It qualifies you to make dives at your present certification level using sidemount equipment configuration giving you more functionality and more safety and to use sidemount (with instructor approval) as you train and qualify for new levels.

Student Prerequisites
Minimum age: Be a minimum age of eighteen (18)
Min certification – diver level: Open Water Diver or equivalent
Min amount of dives: The diver must have 20 or more logged dives
Course Duration: 2 days and consists of half a day of theory and two days of diving with a total of 4 dives.
Diving Gear (System): Sidemount kit
Prerogatives: After completing the Sidemount course, the successful candidate can engage in Sidemount diving using a 2 tank sidemount set-up.
Certification: The diver after passing the exams will be Certified through TDI
Combination of courses: Sidemount + cavern or a combo of Sidemount and Advanced Nitrox
