HOT news! Wreck diving in Nikiti

Finally, hope for a sunken ship in Sithonia for all amateur divers, and easily accessible. After many years of talks and presentations to the governing bodies and institutions, the Municipality of Nikiti now officially has approval from the Ministry of Tourism in Greece to create an artificially submerged ship in order to develop diving tourism in the area!

The Ministry of Tourism in Greece has officially approved the proposal of the Municipality of Sithonia to create an artificially submerged underwater attraction, an ambitious project that will transform the area into a diving destination of international interest. The municipality plans to schedule the project and the immersion to become a reality by the end of May 2026.

The project is part of the subproject SUB7 “Diving and Underwater Tourism” and “Tourism Development” of the Recovery and Resilience Fund, co-financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

????With the underwater attraction, Sithonia aims to offer a unique experience for divers and visitors, while highlighting the natural and cultural richness of the marine environment. The name of the ship that is planned to be sunk is the 64-meter patrol boat KARABOGIANNOS (A-479).
